This is a new design for the MGB and MGC to prevent excessive pressure and overflow. This new pump delivers 2.5 - 3.0 PSI and 17.5 gallons per hour maximum. Comes with rubber for MG mounting bracket.

Designed and manufactured in Germany to the highest standards this Hardi fuel pump is designed as a direct replacement for your OE fuel pump, and it even makes the ticking sound just like the original. Dual polarity for both positive and negative ground. This fuel pump is maintenance-free (no points) and is resistant to ethanol, unlike the old SU pump. Direct replacement for the following "stock" vehicles.

1965 - 1980 MGB 1.8L. 1973 - 1976 MGB Roadster 3.5L (V8). 1967 - 1969 MGC 3.0. New fuel pumps will have a slight "fuel" smell, which is actually an interior protective coating.

This is part of the manufacturing process and perfectly normal and not an indication of a used part. The Hardi fuel pumps have been designed as dual polarity so that they can be installed regardless of the positive or negative polarity of your vehicle.

So if your vehicle is negative ground then the positive terminal must be connected to the ignition fed supply and negative terminal to the chassis. However if your vehicle is positive ground then the positive terminal must be connected to the chassis and negative terminal connected to the ignition fed supply.
